Town House B&B in association with Central B&B is a small, privately run Bed and Breakfast hotel right next to Skipton town centre. It is ideally located within a few yards of Skipton high street and the bus station yet offers a quiet and peaceful retreat. It has been run by the same family since its humble beginnings in 2010 but has now grown and boasts 11 rooms of varying size, layout, and type. All rooms are fully featured and have ensuite bathrooms, each with its own bath, shower, or both. Which makes it a very popular guest house, especially with our great accommodation rates! Unusually for Skipton accommodation providers, we have three rooms on the ground floor, one twin and two double. We also have two single rooms, as well as four doubles and four family rooms. this means however your party is made up, we can normally accommodate you in comfort. There is a large private car park right outside of the door which is free for guests to use. Inside we have super-fast fibre broadband Wi-fi, as well as Sky TV in all rooms, including Sky Sports. Whether you are visiting friends or family, sightseeing, or here on business, or whatever your reason for needing somewhere to stay in Skipton; you will always find a warm welcome and be able to relax in a hospitable atmosphere at our bed and breakfast. For business users and guests who need longer stays, we can normally offer a discounted rate, so please ask our staff for a personal quotation. Simon previously owned another butchery business in Skipton, and then took over a state-of-the-art cutting plant based at Craven Cattle Mart in Skipton and rebranding it as Barker's Yorkshire Butchers.

The Royal Shepherd Inn

GETTING TO KNOW THE HISTORY OF THE ROYAL SHEPHERD The Royal Shepherd is the only pub in the country to have the name. The pub is thought to have been named after George III at the beginning of the 19th century. He was nicknamed Farmer George after creating model farms at Windsor, and The Royal Shepherd is thought to have been named in his honour in keeping with Skipton's agricultural and sheep farming connections. a "charter" outlining its royal connections that used to hang on the wall but went missing when the pub was closed for several months in 2011. THE HAUNTING OF THE ROYAL SHEPHERD INN! The Royal Shepherd Inn, which has been haunted since 1782 by the ghost of John Southworth who was murdered there. Skipton,We have beautiful (no smoking) accommodation which includes a luxury bedroom suite with an adjoining private lounge. We also have a spacious double bedroom with a large en-suite bathroom. Both are furnished to a very high standard and each has the shared use of a sun lounge. Each unit is perfect for couples and special rates are available for small groups or families wishing to book both accommodations. Unfortunatley we are unable to accommodate pets. The property is very old and was originally part of a working farm which sat in the grounds of Skipton Castle. The building has many old features but has been completely refurbished to the highest modern standards.

The Unicorn is one of Skipton's oldest hotels The above advertisement was taken from an original newspaper clipping advertising the Unicorn Hotel taken around 1890 showing the original grand façade. Built by BYB, Bentley Yorkshire Brewery, the stone carved letters can still be seen under the decorative arched windows on the side of the building. Older Skipton locals remember the unicorn and drank in the pub beneath, now turned into shops. The entrance is now located under the windows at the side of the building an unfortunate side effect of the 1970's. This BYB building was a grand replacement for the original Unicorn hotel located on the opposite side of Keighley road slightly further down, it was moved due to the widening of the arterial entrance route into Skipton The Unicorn has provided quality accommodation in Skipton for over 150 years

Providing veterinary care in Skipton, Craven and the Dales for over 70 years, Kingsway has achieved the highest level of excellence from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and is the first practice in the area to be accredited with Veterinary Hospital status for our small animal division. The practice was originally established at 21 Newmarket Street in Skipton under the name of V J S Leslie & Partners. Initially our clientele was mainly farmers and small animal work was handled in the mornings with an open surgery rather than appointment format, and with operations carried out just once a week on Thursdays. In 1984 we moved to brand new purpose built premises with parking off Otley Road on the outskirts of the town and adopted the name Kingsway Vets. The practice grew as the number of people bringing their pets to our care increased and became a major part of our service, so that soon we were bursting at the seams of our building again. Allowing the pets side of the practice to expand to take over the entire Kingsway buildings, we refurbished and relocated the farm vets to Skipton Auction Mart. Attaining our RCVS Veterinary Hospital accreditation involves rigorous independent inspection and review to ensure the practice meets the very highest standards in delivering care to animals. Any practice in the UK is currently allowed to use the term ‘animal hospital’ but only those with the Royal College’s certification can be termed Veterinary Hospital. The accreditation recognises our round the clock on-site patient care, meaning that pets are not left unattended overnight. It also acknowledges our continual investment in modern technology to ensure the best possible animal care with separate wards for dogs and cats, two modern operating theatres and a state of the art in-house laboratory allowing for same day results. In addition to the 24-hour Veterinary Hospital and our Farm division at Skipton Auction Mart, we also have a branch in Silsden which opened in 1991 and one in Crosshills which opened in 2004. A free home visit service operates in the Grassington area on Tuesdays.

The company was originally founded in 1928 by Herbert Longthorne and has a long standing and trusted reputation in the haulage industry and specialises in hauling aggregates and livestock transportation as well as acting as a merchant for the sale of quarry products. Customers include Hansons, Tarmac and Aggregate Industries all of which are quarry operators who rely on Longthornes expertise and experience in the industry. Longthornes began way back in 1928 when a one tonne Chevrolet wagon carting coal and cattle to markets, started the family business. For over 75 years and through three generations the company has operated from Hebden in Wharfdale, a small village in the Yorkshire Dales. In the 1930’s the Chevrolet was replaced by a Bedford, and in the 1960’s Leylands were introduced along side Bedford vehicles. The 1970’s saw the introduction of tipper wagons which were mainly of Volvo and DAF manufacture. Today, the company runs an impressive fleet of 30 modern and stunningly liveried metallic trucks which mainly haul aggregates from local quarries and move livestock around the country.

Dr Anthony Gill PhD, MSc, BSc (Hons), Dip Nursing, PGCE, RMN, has extensive knowledge of working with the elderly in a variety of settings including residential care, nursing care and care of the older adult. As an RMN he specialised in working in the acute environment and worked as a staff nurse and then as a charge nurse on busy acute admission wards. More recently he has spent time working on a rehabilitation unit that specialises in PSI and CBT and has also worked in a care home with a variety of clients utilising his skills in palliative care to help staff. During this time Tony studied part time to achieve a nursing degree followed by a Masters degree in advanced nursing practise, and has completed his PhD, is entitled “the lived experiences of people with schizophrenia prescribed atypical antipsychotic medication” He has an interest in the quality of life of service users and has recently published an article on stigma and its effects upon individuals. Tony is also a qualified lecturer having gained his PGCE at Huddersfield University and in 2007 was the first tutor at Bradford College to be awarded tutor of the year following nominations from his students. A keen cyclist, Tony races in the Fred Whitton Challenge, a gruelling 112 miles route that raises money for Motor Neurone disease.

Hesketh Farm Park is set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, just 1 mile from the picturesque village of Bolton Abbey and 5 miles from the market town of Skipton. The Farm Park is idyllic, with around 10 acres of greenery overlooking the Yorkshire hills and the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam train whistling by in the valley below. Hesketh Farm is still a working farm with over 1,000 livestock including cattle, sheep and pigs. Today it is run by Chris and his wife Sue who are the fourth generation to farm here. As Dales’ weather can be unpredictable we have a large cosy, undercover barn with an efficient heating system so that your day will be still fun-packed even if it’s chilly outside. There’s loads to do, including feeding and stroking the animals, having fun inside – maybe in the giant sandpit or playing hide and seek with your friends in the straw maze. Upon his death, wealthy Skipton mill owners, the Dewhurst family, purchased the estate and Aireville Hall. Aireville Park is home of the annual Skipton Triathlon, the largest pool-based triathlon in Yorkshire and Humberside. Dyneley House is a long established practice which functions as a non-limited partnership. It has been extensively developed and extended over the years with a large nursing extension, improved access for disabled patients and an adjacent barn conversion. It is a modern well-equipped practice; facilities include a theatre for minor operations, electrocardiography, spirometry, fetal monitoring equipment and vascular Doppler ultrasound. We are a computerised “paperless” practice. The practice has always been involved with training and innovation. We were the first practice in North Yorkshire to win an NHS Beacon Services award, and one of the first to receive the Investor in People accreditation. We are always working with other local agencies to plan and co-ordinate the development of local healthcare services. Our philosophy is to offer a combination of the best modern treatment backed up by traditional personal care. Parking We have a private car park at the rear of the surgery, access is from Petyt Grove. The gate may be locked when the surgery is closed. The car park is for patients whilst they are actually using the surgery.
