In 1204 a Charter was granted allowing a weekly market, trading in sheep and woollen goods.
Today the Market Charter is held by the owners of Skipton Castle who grant the right to hold the market 4 days a week.
On cobbled streets the centuries old traditional market trades throughout the year, offering an interesting range of stalls selling fresh produce to clothing and much more.
Market Days offer something for everyone, set on both sides of the High Street, you will be sure to find something for you.
Market Days: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
Stalls are usually in place by 9:30am and clear away from about 4:30pm.
Actual market times are dependent upon the weather conditions on any one day.
